The marginalized children in the poor villages in Bangladesh have access to education to empower them to pursue their dreams in life and reach their fullest potential.
What is the Mission Hope Arises?
Hope Arises empowers the children to end generational poverty by providing elementary and preventive health education, personal hygiene supplies and a school lunch to create the environment for learning and personal growth for the Bangladeshi children.
What are the Values of Hope Arises ?
Empowerment: Hope Arises Schools endeavors to assist the children and families to act for themselves rather than being acted upon by providing just financial assistance. The schools seek to be catalysts for change.
Respect: Hope Arises Schools empowers the locals to assist each other and respects the local cultural traditions in implementing best practices.
Inclusive: Hope Arises Schools is inclusive of the marginalized in the society like orphans, disabled, with learning disabilities in a healthy balance.
Social justice: Hope Arises Schools seek to boost the realization of human rights and social justice for everyone and especially the marginalized children.
Pay It Forward: Those with so much will find the joy in Paying It Forward to those who have so little and those who have received will continue to Pay It Forward creating a perpetual ecosystem for good.
Holistic approach: “It takes a village to raise a child”: Hope Arises Schools seeks to engage the entire community to help the child and the family out of poverty into self-reliance.
Donation FAQ’S
The target is that 99% of donations are sent to Bangladesh. The only expenses that that are acceptable in Finland and US are banking and IT infrastructure related costs. All administrative work is performed pro bono without compensation.
The same principles apply also for the expenses in Bangladesh.
Also in Bangladesh, our teachers are the only paid employees and administrative expenses pertain to audits, financial controls, office supplies, IT and and legal fees.
How is the use of funds monitored and audited?
The operations in Finland and United States have the sole function of fund raising. The use of funds in these countries is limited to banking, IT infrastructure costs and possible social media advertising expenses.
The funds received in Finland and in US are transferred to Bangladesh on monthly basis and only the amount needed for the next months operations.
A financial report is produced on monthly basis specifying the used of funds and the closing balance of the bank account at the end of the month.
The operations of all three entities are audited as part of the closing of the book each year.
What is the legal structure of Hope Arises
Hope Arises Bangladesh Trust is incorporated under the law of Bangladesh with is governing board and auditors. Hope Arises ry is a registered association according to the Finnish laws with a board of directs and an auditor. The operations are reported on annual basis along with the audits to the Finnish authorities. Hope Arises USA is a non-profit corporation established according to the Utah legislation.
What is the operational structure
The chairman of the board of the Bangladeshi, Finnish and American entities will make the operational decisions and guide the day to day operations of the schools.
Are the officers paid for performing their duties
No. The officers are not paid for performing their duties not are compensated for the meetings of the board of directors. All administrative work is performed on voluntary bases without compensation.
Are annual reports of the operations made available to the donors
Yes, profit and loss statement and a balance sheet of each entity is published annually. Because the Finnish and US entities were incorporated 2022, 2022 is the first year of reporting.
