Fresh Water Well drilled at Satgar Para

Approximately 98% of Bangladesh’s population relies on groundwater for drinking.   Hope Arises Schools teamed up with the local community to drill a well. Groundwater is naturally filtered as it passes through the earth, generally making it less prone to bacterial contamination compared to surface water sources. Access to ground water significantly reduces waterborne diseases in the community.

The need for s ground water well is extremely important because Bangladesh is exceptionally vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change due to a combination of geographical and environmental.   Much of Bangladesh is a vast river delta. Even though Hope Arises Satgar Para school  is located 20 kilometers from the sea, it is only a few meters above sea level, making the community extremely vulnerable to typhoons in the Bay of Bengal that can generate powerful storm surges that flood coastal areas. This can contaminate surface water bodies like ponds, rivers, and even floodplains, making the water unusable for drinking, irrigation, and other purposes.

Therefore, it is crucial to secure clean fresh water supply for the community. Hope Arises school desire to be catalysts for good in their communities.
